According to myth and legend a dog brought fire to humans, and is the guardian of the underworld - the realm of death. The dog is the oldest companion of man and a symbol of alertness and faithfulness. Therefore it relates to positive and negative human qualities.
The kris is a weapon strongly connected with magic and ritual, and made with fire.
